Salt Marsh Nature Center The Urban Park Rangers welcome you to the Salt Marsh Nature Center at Marine Park! What is this place? An Environmental Education Center A Community Center Open to the Public All Programs Are Free of Charge We are here to protect all the Park and its inhabitants and to encourage stewardship among its patrons. We operate the Salt Marsh Nature Center and provide opportunities for the public to learn about the natural history and the cultural history of Gerritsen Creek. We also host educational events, conferences, and local community group meetings. We host public programs including: Z Ecology Lectures Z Tours of the Salt Marsh Z Story Telling Z Arts & Crafts Z Games Z Birdwatching Z Stargazing Z Canoeing Salt Marsh Nature Center Hours 10:30am to 5:30pm Daily The Park, including the trail, is open from 6 am to dusk Daily Phone Number: 718 421-2021 Fax: 718 421-6767 Our Nature Trail leads visitors through an extraordinary wetland, one of the last remaining in Brooklyn, so one may see up close various bird species such as herons and egrets to fiddler crabs and mussel beds. The Salt Marsh Nature Center Building is the home of the Brooklyn Urban Park Rangers. It contains welcome/reception area in the Rotunda, bathrooms, a library/conference room, classroom and/or exhibit space, Ranger offices and a caretaker apartment.
